As I often mention on my website, skybear. com, October 1999 was the date that my wolfie Lawrence Booboobear crossed over. I dedicated my work with Spirit to him as his passing changed my life. Little did I know that about the same time in North Carolina, something was happening that would eventually change the way that state treated Spiritualists and their religion. People in the Old North State were working towards the repeal of a Divination Law, a frightening statute if enforced, that was on the books in various forms dating back to the 1950's.
General Assembly of N.C. General Statute 14-401.5 outlawed the use of clairvoyance, tarot cards and crystal balls and other, related methods of Spirit Communication. It was finally repealed in 2004. And I received a message from Spirit about the significant of that occurrence in typical Spirit fashion, administered with a great deal of humor and silly, personal references. And repetition to ensure that I would finally get it.
The NC law on Divination was overturned in the General Assembly on the Celtic Festival of Samhain in 2004. The ancient celebration of fire marked the end of summer. As a Bill of Rights issue, the final decision came after a series of lawsuits that called for the end of those statutes on the basis that they were restricting religion. As a Spiritualist, I could not agree more. The phenomena of Spiritualism is Mediumship and Clairvoyance is one aspect of that Spirit Communication. In 1891 Spiritualism became a religion that was fully recognized by the government of the United States of America. Spirit Communication was therefore a protected right under the United States Constitution in the First Amendment which is part of the Bill of Right.
How did Spirit draw my attention to the year of 2004 and that significant legal action take in the NC General Assembly? On July 23-24, at around 4-5 in the morning I woke to hear the song GLORIA that Laura Branigan made famous in 1982. And in my mind's eye I saw her dancing and singing with none other than Freddie Mercury. That verse "all the voices in your head" kept playing over and over.

Both performers had significant recognition in that year of 1982 for their work. Branigan's single Gloria was eventually certified as platinum. Mercury also hit platinum with his album in 1982. Freddie crossed over in 1991. Branigan crossed over in August, 2004 with a cerebral aneurysm. "2004" kept showing up...the year was significant.
And now I know why...2004 is a very important year for this Spiritualist, now living in North Carolina. It meant the repeal of the NC Divination Law in the General Assembly...what a round about way to get me to pay attention to a significant message. But as we have come to know, Spirit always finds a way to get their message across. Freddie and Laura dancing to the 1982 disco tune and Italian love song, Gloria, got my attention, sure aye!
