Years after writing the Douglas Trilogy that covered the lifetime of the Good Sir James, the Spirit I have come to know as Sir James Douglas told me about a lifetime he had as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The first piece of major information connecting the two incarnations was a remark James made one morning in my kitchen as I was feeding my Scottish Deerhound some sardines, adding the fish to his diet as he was undergoing cancer treatments. The Spirit I knew as James approached me to say that as Arthur Conan Doyle he too loved 'the wee fish'. I contacted a recognized expert on Doyle and inquired as to the authenticity of the information. My friend in Australia completely rejected the claims. Days later I received a copy of " Arthur Conan Doyle, A Life in Letters". The content included letters to his 'mam' that praised her generous gift to him at school in England of a box of sardines. He raved about being able to share the sardines with other boys at the school, making him a hit with his fellow students.
The sardines story with Doyle is typical for Spirit communication; revelation of an obscure fact that verifies the statements from Spirit with information not readily known. There were other pieces of information in that same book of Doyle's personal correspondence that corroborated the Spirit I knew as James for his claim to a later incarnation as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. An image included in the book as a Viking warrior. James first 'came through to me' as a Medium around 2002 and I was able to draw his image. The helm he wore for the 'portrait sitting' in Spirit was a near double for the image of Doyle in his Viking costume included in the book of his letters.
Doyle also wrote about a vision he had near the Newstead fort at Hadrian's Wall, "Through the Veil", originally called a "Cast Backward".
He provided information about his lifetime serving with Platorious Nepos, Governor of Britannia during the construction of Hadrian's Wall. Years earlier I was unknowingly given an image of Bewcastle, Newstead at Hadrian's Wall. I was planning a research trip to Cumbria and 'stumbled' upon, likely led there by Spirit, to that same place of Bewcastle. Spirit showed me this odd church and a cross missing the cross head found in the church yard. Here is the church at Bewcastle. Coincidence, there are no coincidences. Years later I read Doyle's story on that same location, "Through the Veil". With Spirit it is very important to record all visions, messages and then wait to discover how it fits into the research.
There was other evidence of Doyle's life being the reincarnated Spirit of James Douglas when he wrote the consummate book on war strategy, History of the Boer War. James Douglas as the renowned lieutenant of King Robert the Brus was known for his strategy in battle, defeating an army of 10,000 English in the Borders with just 200 Scots near Lintalee.
Doyle left us further indications of his inclinations toward accepting prior incarnations. His books contain references and insights that would have been at odds with his life as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. So when you read from his other manuscripts and stories, do so with the informed eye of a Spiritualist...there is more that lies beneath surface with this great writer; an intriguing soul, sure aye.
