Teaching Spirit Communication is rewarding for me. Each class reminds me of the earlier times in my own development when I was unsure about the source of my information. I was almost fearful to share the words form Spirit as I thought I might have gotten the message wrong. But now as I share the stories of my early training I realize that such timidity was actually a struggle with ego.
Communication is a partnership with our guides in Spirit. Those souls behind the veil have to learn how to communicate with us just like we have to find a way to receive their messages accurately. Meditation on a daily basis helps to speed up the learning process.
I have found that our animals are natural communicators. My new Deerhound pups have provided me with wonderful messages from their animal counterparts in Spirit. For the last eight weeks since Arrow and Ace passed, the newcomers, Mercury and Archer, have been on high alert.
Without audible prompts, one of my eight month old hounds started to stare at a corner of the room that was once the territory supervised by my beautiful Celtic Arrow. Mercury escalated his response to a full-bark alert. As a medium I was able to see Arrow still standing her ground. (Celtic Arrow pictured left, a month before she passed)
On another day Garnet Ace, my wise old soul in Spirit, showed up in my bedroom. I saw him out of the corner of my eye as he sauntered through. From a deep sleep, the newer pup, Archer, jumped up on the bed, standing at full attention. Loud barking ensued until the Ace Man left the room. (Garnet Ace pictured right with his happy smile)
I was very grateful to see my old warrior hounds in Spirit. Their presence is wonderfully reassuring, even with my decade of experience in mediumship. Just knowing that they are around is very comforting to me. And for those that do not 'see' as a clairvoyant be assured that our animal friends never really leave us. With meditation we can learn to see these loved ones on a daily basis, many becoming our totems as we 'travel' behind the veil through our meditations.
Communication with Spirit is something we all can do. Sometimes it is just a matter of being receptive, open to the message just like my Deerhound pups were when they were visited by Arrow and Ace. Animals teach us a lot about communicating with Spirit as they are always open to it, taking it in stride as part of their reality.
Barbara Olson was an author, attorney and political commentator who died on Flight 77 when it hit the Pentagon on 9-11. I was living in Boston at the time and knew her only through her books and appearances on television. But that afternoon she started talking to me from Spirit.
Over the course of several days she presented evidence of her survival in Spirit. And she provided details in visions of her last minutes on board the aircraft before it crashed. I wrote everything down in my journals and was surprised when she insisted more than once that I knew her.
It was ten years later that I understood.
Helen Foster (left image) appeared briefly in my latest book, RIGHT OF PASSAGE, What the Dead say about Reincarnation. She was a great, great, great aunt to me as well as a relative from Staffordshire, England in medieval times. In her marriages she wed conservative political leaders, including Ansel B. Cook of Illinois.
A week before the tenth anniversary of 9-11 Helen in Spirit revealed that she had helped me write my latest book and that she was also Barbara Olson.
She provided evidence of survival, including these facts: her husband remarried and that she had contacted him from Spirit with three phone calls. Ted Olson first told CNN that his wife called him twice on a cell phone. I recalled the visions I had on 9-11 of the lady wearing wire rim glasses, crouched on the floor behind a seat on a plane making a call from a small phone. The only problem with Ted Olson's evidence at the 9-11 investigation was that the FBI contradicted his story.
The FBI gathered all cell phone information for 9-11. Only one call was attributed to Barbara Olson and it was not completed, lasting zero seconds. Ted Olson said he spoke with his wife twice. Barbara told me that three calls were made. Ted said she identified the hijackers as Muslims and described their weapons and activities that matched other evidence collected that day. The calls between Barbara and her husband surely took place, but how?
Later Ted Olson modified his story, saying that his wife may have called collect on a passenger-seat phone. American Airlines refuted that claim as their Boeing 757 did not have seat phones. The cell phones capable of operating at high altitudes were not developed until 2004, so how did Barbara make those calls?
I believe it was as Barbara told me; she called from Spirit.
Our loved ones will get through to tell us they survive the change called death. The messages come in love and on 9-11, Barbara Olson's call was not the only one using Spirit Energy for the connection.
A friend in Scotland sent me two photos he took of his Scottish Deerhound the other morning on the roof of a ruined wing of his 13th century castle. Look at the first image and see the orbs and then compare that image to his photograph taken less than a second later. That's how I determine if I am actually photographing orbs or just something other than Spirit energy.
The second photo, taken just a second later is quite different; the orbs are no longer visible.
As a medium, when I receive a message about something that is very important I always ask for a sign as verification that what I heard was accurate. When my Scottish Deerhound Garnet Ace was first diagnosed with osteosarcoma I was told that there would be a miracle...I felt that it meant that his suffering would lead to a cure. On his birthday I received a Spiritual visit. That was great validation for me! The research team has made a significant breakthrough...hooray...and they are now working on the next phase of the research. For now Ace and Arrow stage mini coursing events in our back yard. Yes, three legged races for Ace...just don't tell him he only has three legs!
Not long after I completed my own training in Reiki Second Degree I visited Scotland for the first time, in this lifetime. I decided to do Reiki healing at the ruins of the 13th century castle of my ancestors in the village of Douglas, Lanarkshire.
Setting the video camera to record I went about my healing ceremony.
Imagine my surprise when I viewed this figure directly opposite me, higher on the right of the image, standing in the tower ruins wearing a medieval bishop's hat and robes. The image is slightly blurred as it was a still created from a VCR movie.
The Spirit later identified himself as William from a different incarnation. This was the first time I experienced Spirit working with me while I did Reiki healing. Other friends who are not mediums but have taken Reiki, have discovered that their ability to communicate with those on the 'otherside' has been improved since they began practicing the healing modality on others.
It is all about working with the Universal Life Force...that energy is Spirit to me.
When I was in Scotland on one of my many research trips, I went looking for West Calder Manor. It was a gloomy, rainy day and I couldn't quite find the location of the original 13th century tower. Then I heard one of my guides say, "Here it is, take this shot and we will all be in it." I photographed the site with three different cameras. The 35mm roll of film that was developed at the CVS in Winthrop,MA held this fabulous image, three knights and a lady...my four guides in Spirit who work with me on a daily basis. What a great gift from them to prove their survival.
Because this image was profoundly unique and represented an extraordinary effort on Spirit's part to create, I honored my guides by using it as the cover for my latest book: RIGHT OF PASSAGE... What the Dead say about Reincarnation.
During every class or demonstration people, even mediums, get messages they do not understand. I always advise people who get readings to record their messages from Spirit as they may make more sense later...sometimes years later.
The other morning I woke early and felt a strong pain on the top left side of my head. Then I heard the words from a woman in Spirit, "My son,". I had just received an email about a friend in Boston being rushed to surgery for a brain aneurysm and she was going through the difficult days of recovery. I asked Spirit to remove the pain in my head and it left as quickly as it arrived; a sure sign that this was a message from the 'Otherside' and not something wrong with me.
Then I went to work trying to determine the identity of the communicator in Spirit; emailing friends to narrow down the search. I came up empty handed. But the pain kept returning and finally this morning I spoke to my guides; asking them to identify the person who was trying to communicate.The pain stopped immediately and I felt this woman come in as my guide William reminded me that my grandfather died of a brain aneurysm. "You have heard from this woman before in a reading with John Holland and you have known her before," he said. By 'coincidence' or as I like to call it, Spiritual design, I had just found my notes from that reading in 2001 as I was unpacking from my recent move. Yes, it was nine years ago and this lady is finally coming back in to say hello. This lady was the mother of Charles Mills, my step grandfather (in Spirit, there are no differentiations with step, half, or in law as they are all considered relatives) and she was now telling me she was also Helisant Lovaine from 13th century Essex, England. It took me nearly nine years to identify her. And a story about a brain aneurysm proved to be the key to unlocking the link. The photograph below is of Little Easton Manor in Essex England, the home of Helisant Lovaine from 1267 to 1290. And to add to the 'coincidence', Helisant Lovaine died of a brain aneurysm according to the several messages provided by other mediums over the years.
So save those recordings from sittings. And do not throw away any of the notes or journals with messages from Spirit. Those on the Otherside, as the Ancient Celts described Heaven, will get their messages through eventually; they have a lot of patience and time on their side.
